Trans Pride Scotland 2024

“Trans rights are human rights”. Sunshine on Kilmarnock for Trans Pride Scotland.

What a great day! Even the weather was kind, as the sun came out after torrential rain and the occasional hail storm had made getting to Kilmarnock an interesting experience.

Over 600 people participated in a march through Kilmarnock from Howard Park to the Ayrshire College. Our Resisting Transphobia in Edinburgh (RTiE) banner was there, the Unite Scotland LGBT+ Committee banner was present, as was a Unison banner, and at least one NASUWT flag. This, along with colourful and creative placards which people brought along, and the wonderfully diverse and beautiful people marching, made it a wonderful sight to behold.

Later, there was a panel of speakers and a Q &A session, as well as about 15 stalls with a number of organisations represented, including BI+ Scotland, LGBT Health, LGBT Youth, Trans Pride Edinburgh, and Unite, with lots of free merch and RTiE stickers.

A big thank you to Trans Pride Scotland for organising this event, and last, but most definitely not least, well done to folk in RTiE for organising a bus to and from Kilmarnock. This made the event a lot more accessible to a good number of people.

It was a great day out, and we can’t wait for the next one!
