Trans rights and reproductive rights are a shared fight, that’s why we joined Abortion Rights Scotland for their counter protest on Saturday the 26th of April.

This is the second year that RTiE has supported the Abortion Rights protest and once again we got a very good response. A number of people were already following us on social media, and a conversation with one of the organisers found them fully behind trans people, seeing our struggles as fundamentally linked. They had been at our trans rights protest the previous weekend, now we stood with them.

RTiE demonstrating our intersectionality by participating in actions like this will be increasingly important for advancing the cause of bodily autonomy, whether in relation to gender or reproductive choices, as a shared principle. Perhaps our work in advertising the event helped to boost the attendance on the day too.
