No Pride without Trans Pride!

Pride is a Protest! Trans Pride Scotland, Dundee 2023

The sun came out for over 400 people marching from the metal dragon on Dundee High Street to the Bonar Hall.

According to Maggie Chapman MSP, it was ‘extremely colourful’, and pretty loud. Chants of ‘Trans rights are human rights’ and ‘Protect trans kids’, among others, set the tone, and there were many creative placards, and lots of flags – including our Resisting Transphobia in Edinburgh one.

The Industrial Workers of the World had a banner, members of Unite and Unison with their flags were there, and Trans Pride Scotland organised a great afternoon of performances, workshops, and the opportunity to have ‘a round of the stalls’.  RTiE is most grateful to have been invited to have a free stall, and our flyers, stickers and zines were extremely popular.

Many good conversations were had, and we hope to be able to put people who are keen to do something similar in Glasgow, Dundee and Dumfries in touch with each other. It was a most enjoyable and inspiring day, and the amount of support from local people before, during and after the event was inspiring. Dundee did Trans Pride Proud!
